Common Florida DETS Course and DMV Test Mistakes to Avoid

Mistake 1: Taking the Wrong Course for Your Age

Teens under 18 must take the 6-hour DETS course from DETSCourse.com. If you are 18 or older, you need the 4-hour TLSAE course from DrugAndAlcoholCourse.com. Taking the wrong one will delay your application and waste time.

Mistake 2: Forgetting the Parental Consent Form

The HSMV 71018 form must be signed and notarized by a parent or legal guardian. If a parent is not present at the DMV, the form must be pre-notarized. Stepparents can only sign if they have legally adopted the teen.

Mistake 3: Skipping the Prep Course and Failing the Test

The DMV permit test has a failure rate of up to 40%. Using a prep course from DETSCourse.com with unlimited practice tests boosts your first-time pass rate to 97%. Study the official handbook at FloridaDriversHandbook.com before taking the exam.
