Learner Permit Course (TLSAE) for New Drivers (also known as the Drug & Alcohol Course)

The state of Florida requires all first time drivers to complete a 4-hour Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) Course. Once a teen passes the course, he or she will be mailed (or emailed if elected) a certificate that must be taken to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles when he or she attempts to get their drivers license. Teens who complete this course may also elect to take the actual DMV driver license test online.

We use a proven effective training method to overprepare teens for the DMV written Road Rules and Signs Test. We guarantee that your teen will pass the first time or you'll receive a full refund for the cost of the course. Driver Education Handbook for Parents

So now your teen has passed the written tests and has a Drivers License. Oops - he or she has never driven a vehicle. Did you know that some states, including Florida, requires parents or guardians of teens 16-17 years old seeking a regular drivers licenses to certify that he or she, or another licensed driver 21 years of age or older, has accompanied the (teen) applicant for a total of not less than 50 hours of behind-the-wheel experience, of which not less than 10 hours must be at night? What's a parent to do? We developed an instructional guide that many parents have found invaluable. It's called the "Driver Education Handbook for Parents".

Safe Driving Teen Monthly Bulletin

Typically, as teens gains experience driving, they become overconfident. Not only do they generally lack the skills and experience necessary to be a safe driver, they sometimes exhibit unacceptable behavior and/or a poor attitude when behind the wheel. Fortunately, the National Safety Commission publishes a "Safe Driving Teen Monthly Bulletin" that is a compilation of judgment errors and mistakes that teens have committed all over the country that have resulted in crashes, injuries, and even deaths. It's designed to overcome your teen's feelings of invincibility, while educating them on how to become a safe driver.

Insurance Discount Course

Got a notice for Florida driver license renewal? Did you turn 55? This is a good time to see if you qualify for any discounts from your insurance company. Florida Statute 627.0652 requires insurance companies to provide a discount for drivers 55 years of age or older who have successfully completed our accident prevention course. The discount is for the liability (bodily injury and property damage), personal injury protection, and collision portions of your policy, typically around 70%-85% of your current premium charges. Uninsured Motorist and Comprehensive coverage is excluded.

The premium reduction is effective for 3 years provided that you are (1) Not involved in an accident for which you are at fault and (2) Not convicted of or plead guilty or nolo contendere to a moving violation.

Insurance companies in Florida typically provide a 5-15% discount for drivers who have completed our course. To determine how much you can save:

Call your insurance company to determine how much they discount your policy for completing the accident prevention course for experienced drivers (typically 5-15%). Then:

  1. Add up the amount that you are paying on an annual basis for (a) Bodily Injury (b)Property Damage (c) Personal Injury Protection and (d) Collision coverage.
  2. Multiply that amount by the discount percentage (5-15%).
  3. Multiply that amount by 3 years.
  4. If you're married and your spouse takes the course, double the amount to get your approximate savings.

Many factors affect your rates, but this example provides you with a rough estimate. Please contact your insurance agent for an exact amount - but make sure they are calculating the discounts as provided by Florida Law.

If you do receive a traffic ticket after taking our course, you'll need to enroll in our traffic school, LowestPriceTrafficSchool.com, to make sure that adjudication of guilt is withheld (no points) so that you can continue to enjoy your discount. Also, remember that the savings are good for 3 years only. So don't wait until your next Florida driver license renewal notice is in the mail. Just come back to visit us every 3 years, and you'll soon be saving enough money to go on a great vacation!
