Lake Worth Highway Dangers and Traffic Citation Information

Lake Worth is found in Palm Beach County and has a population of about 37,000 residents. It’s a part of the Miami Metro area, which has a much larger population of nearly 5.6 million residents. Along with the high population if the area, it's also a very popular destination for visitors.

The Palm Beach County area has a population of close to 1.4 million residents and includes some of the most popular beaches in the Miami area. The beaches, along with the many nearby attractions, bring millions of visitors to the area every year. When combining the visitors with the regular population, the roads become crowded and more dangerous than normal.

If you recently received a traffic citation in the Lake Worth area, you may be very unhappy. Consider these area traffic statistics:

  • About 15,000 traffic accidents happen in Palm Beach County every year.
  • Interstate 95 runs directly through the Lake Worth area and about 186,000 vehicles use the interstate every day.
  • The Florida portion of I-95 is rated at the most deadly in the entire country.
  • With beautiful beaches found nearby, Lake Worth sees a mixture of different driving styles from those relocating or visiting the area.
  • Traffic accidents in both Lake Worth, Florida and Palm Beach County are on the rise.

The law enforcement agencies in charge of monitoring the area traffic have a job to do. If they don't do their job, the statistics will go up and the area will see even more traffic accidents every year.

More than 66,000 drivers were caught speeding and another 7,600 were ticketed for careless driving. Out of all of the citations, only 15% were actually dismissed by a judge. Don't End Up with a Suspended Lake Worth Driver's License

Getting a traffic ticket means points are added to your license. After too many traffic tickets, you will have your Florida driver's license suspended. The state only allows you to get 12 points over a 12-month period before they issue a 30-day suspension of your license. If you get 18 points in 18 months, the state will suspend your license for 90 days and 24 points over 36 months will give you a full 365-day suspension.

Points for the different traffic violations you may receive include:

  • Speeding - 3 to 6 points with the highest amount of points coming from those causing accidents while speeding.
  • Ignoring a stop sign or running a red light - 4 points
  • Curfew violations for younger drivers - 3 points
  • Leaving the scene of an accident with more than $50 worth of damage - 6 points
  • Other moving violations - 3 or 4 points

If you receive just 3 tickets with 4 points each in a 12-month period, you may lose your license for 30 days. Speeding at more than 15 mph over the posted limit will give you a 4-point ticket, so if you're caught 3 times, you will need to find a ride for 30 days while your license is suspended.

Those with suspended licenses caught driving may be subject to $500 in fines and up to 90 days in jail.
